Post Arrival Guidelines

  •     Airport Arrival: Here are some general guidelines that may apply upon arrival at the airport :-
    • 1.   Upon arrival at your destination, follow the signs for immigration, collect your luggage, and proceed through customs. Stay calm, be patient, and follow instructions from airport staff and authorities.
    • 2.   Connect to the free airport wi-fi and speak to your PMEH counsellor or try to seek help from Helpdesks and connect with us.
    • 3.  Call your family and your PMEH counsellor that you have arrived.
    • 4.  You can also use the Airtel Phone Booths for connecting with us or purchase a sim which can costs INR 600 (about $7.50 USD) for 28 days (with 1.5GB of data per day). Make sure to carry your passport-sized photographs and proof of address, as they may be required for purchasing a SIM card.
    • 5.   It's advisable to exchange a small amount of currency into Indian rupees (INR) at the airport to cover immediate expenses like transportation and meals.
    • 6.  Always carry details of your PMEH counsellor written on slip in case of low battery or other reasons.
    • 7.   PMEH/University will arrange airport pickup for students who have provided their flight details to the PMEH team, upon request.
  •    Reporting and Registration at University: The student will report at the International Affairs Cell at the university, bringing along all necessary documents, and engage with the designated reporting officer/country manager. Complete the necessary academic registration procedures including payment of fees.
  •    Registration with FRRO: Upon arrival in India, student needs to register with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) within 14 days, depending on the duration of their stay and visa type. This registration process is mandatory for all foreign students (except Bhutan & Nepal).   •    Health insurance: Ensure that you have adequate health insurance coverage while studying in India with the help of University officials. Some universities may provide health insurance for international students.
  •    Settling in: Adjusting to a new country can take time, so take the opportunity to explore the local area, meet fellow students, and get involved in campus activities or student organizations.

NOTE : It's essential for students to stay in touch with their university's international student office or designated support services for assistance and guidance throughout their stay in India thus avoiding any potential fines.
